How Much Do You Know About Heartworms and Heartworm Prevention?
The American Heartworm Society estimates that more than a million dogs in the U.S. have heartworm disease—and heartworm disease can be fatal. Cats and ferrets can also get heartworm disease. Heartworm prevention is one of the simplest and most important ways you can care for your pet(s). Please read the article from the American Heartworm Society. Protect your Pets!
Ticks are abundant already. Dogs may develop Lyme disease from the bite of a blacklegged tick, which may transmit bacteria known as Borrelia burgdorferi. Once ill, dogs can become feverish and lame in one or more joints. They also may exhibit sluggishness, and their lymph nodes may swell. Please check your pets and find other symptoms of Lyme disease on the American Kennel Club website.
